Adoptions

How long will my adoption pack take to arrive?

If you made a payment using BACs (Bank-to-bank transfer) then there is a legal “cooling off period” between the payment being made and the payment being received. In that time, we will not receive the details of your adoption and, therefore, cannot fulfil your adoption pack needs. This can take up to 10 working days. If you would like to receive your adoption pack quicker, you can send us an email at hello@bos-uk.org with your details.

Typically, for deliveries within the UK your pack will be delivered within 3-5 working days but this can be up to 7 working days.

For deliveries to Europe, please allow up to 21 working days. Please note, deliveries outside the UK may be obligated to pay a customs duty charge which BOS UK do not control. We also offer a personalized, digital certificate for anybody who does not want to pay this fee.

If your adoption pack has not arrived within the maximum suggested timeframe, please contact us at hello@bos-uk.org and we will follow this up for you.

Can I gift an orangutan adoption to someone else?
Absolutely! Our orangutan adoption program makes for a thoughtful and eco-friendly gift. During the adoption process, you can provide the recipient's information, and they will receive all the benefits of the adoption, including quarterly updates and communications.
Why should I choose BOS UK over other charities?

With our adoption program, you can feel connected to a specific orangutan, following their rehabilitation progress and hopeful release. Your money is going directly towards helping the orangutans in our care and our specific rehabilitation facilities (or Sanctuary Care for Kopral and friends) like Samboja Lestari or Nyaru Menteng.

Please note that you must adopt before 15th September of the same calendar year to receive this. Any lapsed, cancelled or paused adoptions after 15th September will not be eligible to receive a free calendar.

How does adopting an Orangutan provide support?

The best way to help Orangutans is by becoming a regular supporter. Your recurring monthly or annual support allows us to ensure all of our orangutan programs have the consistent financial funds they need to ensure their success.

You can either give a recurring gift through our donation page, become an orangutan adopter yourself, or give an adoption as a gift. We offer several packages that make you an integral part of an orangutan’s journey back to the wild.

Our Work & Impacts

What is the mission and vision of BOS?

Established in 1991, the Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Foundation is the world’s largest orangutan conservation organization. Our mission is two-fold. First, we save orangutans in immediate danger through rescue, rehabilitation, and re-introduction to protected rainforests. Second, and equally important, we protect and restore their wild habitat by working alongside the native communities bordering them.

Does it cost anything to become a BOS-USA partner?
No, partnership does not have any fees associated and we can tailor a partnership agreement that works for both organisations.
If we sign a partnership agreement what are our obligations?
Our partnership agreements outline the agreed terms on how we choose to work together, and either party is able to cancel this at anytime should there be a desire to do so.
Does partnership have to be a financial donation?
Not at all, we have partners that provide us much needed pro-bono or reduced fee services, in-kind donations of goods, and promotional benefits, so there are many ways to structure the partnership.
Can we use the BOS logo on our materials and products if we partner?
Yes, this is possible with some limitations. Contact us if you want to discuss further.
Can we direct our support to a specific area or project of BOS’s work?
Yes, this is possible for larger donations and we can provide options to consider.
Are there any companies you won’t work with?
We hold to the concept that all companies that are on a path to being more environmentally conscious are potential candidates for partners, but yes, there are certain companies that don’t meet this criteria that we will pass on partnering with, but will always provide them guidance on how to get on the right path.
