This year, we acquired charity ballots for the Royal Parks Half-Marathon, a race route that includes four iconic and leafy London parks. Meet some of the runners who joined #TeamOrangutanChampion and are running the half-marathon to support orangutans and our conservation work.
Mulaika is a veteran of the Royal Parks Half Marathon, having participated in the race 20 years ago. When she saw that BOS-UK had some charity ballots available, she leapt at the chance to run in the race again. Originally from Malaysia, the ongoing environmental crisis in Southeast Asia is very much on her mind. As a participant in the 2025 RPH, Mulaika’s passion for running is paired with a passion for tropical forest conservation and saving species – like orangutans – that depend upon them.
Natalie has a twofold motivation for running for #TeamOrangutanChampions: the race to save them from extinction is overlooked and the impact of deforestation isn’t getting enough attention. Supporting our lifesaving work has grown some roots in her household: Natalie’s partner is a big fan of BOS orangutan Lesley, famous for wearing “watermelon hats”. Visit Nathalie’s campaign page to read more about why she was inspired to take on the challenge of a long-distance run to support saving orangutans.
Patrick has always had a fascination for the natural world and a love for orangutans. Last year, he visited the Danum Valley, one of the areas in South East Asia where Bornean orangutans are found. The experience fed his passion for habitat conservation, reforestation, and protecting vulnerable species like orangutans. Patrick has approached his training for the Royal Parks Half with similar dedication. Visit his campaign page to follow his training run updates.
