We have some great news from the Kehje Sewen Forest in East Kalimantan. 🧡
The vast Kehje Sewen Forest in East Kalimantan is one of the protected habitats into which rehabilitated #orangutans are released. Dev and Rofinus are members of the Post-Release Monitoring (PRM) teams. Here, they tell us what it's like working in this enchanting but challenging place, and what a day in their life looks like. Enjoy! Link in bio to our website, this story is under Latest News
Whoever you're hanging out with this weekend, have fun!
Thanks to a very generous donation of $46,500 from longtime BOS supporters Jane Grant and acclaimed author Lee Child CBE, we have reached our goal to reforest 100 acres of #orangutan habitat in the Mawas Conservation Forest. 🌳🦧
Just like humans, orangutans change as they mature & sometimes an individual appears who gets the Post-Release-Monitoring Team puzzled as to their identity. 🦧🧐

It’s the 6th Anniversary of Jelapat’s rescue.
Learning what to eat and where to find it, is an essential lesson at #OrangutanJungleSchool 🦧
Happy Father's Day to those celebrating today
It's the anniversary of Bumi's rescue today.
Have a wonderful weekend! ☀️
The Mawas program is a beacon of hope for future orangutan generations as we build new homes for them on degraded land. 🦧🌳
In August 2021, the Post-Release Monitoring (PRM) team spotted Bungan, who was released into the forest seven years prior, spending time with Hamzah, a dominant male who was released a decade ago. The result is a new wild born baby! Read more here on our website, link in bio.👆

Jelapat was being illegally kept as a pet by a local villager who claimed to have found him wandering alone in a gold-mining area. Forest fires had devastated the area around that time, and sadly, Jelapat’s mother undoubtedly perished in the fires or was killed intentionally.
Jelapat’s ‘home’ was a rickety cage on a busy road, where he’d have been subjected to constant noise and pollution.
Now, Jelapat’s well on his way through Forest School and a life in the wild grows ever closer.
This is the difference made by expert care & your adoption donations! Sponsor Jelapat through our website, link in bio 👆 Thank you!

Bumi was admitted to Nyaru Menteng on June 18, 2016, after he was confiscated from a village by the Central Kalimantan BKSDA, (Nature Conservation Agency), and the Centre for Orangutan Protection. Bumi was in shocking condition. He had a fresh wound on his belly button from his umbilical cord, indicating that he was less than two weeks old. We believe that he was violently separated from his mother shortly after his birth. 😢😡
After intensive care and four years at Forest School, Bumi’s now a happy, healthy individual showing every sign that he can one day be released into protected rainforest.
