Choose an Event

What’s that one thing you enjoy more than anything else? Are you a brilliant baker, keen on karaoke or a hostess with the mostest? We’ve included some easy ideas to get you started. Whatever you choose, take the opportunity to bring people together and raise money for the orangutans!

Top 11 Easy Events

Your Special Day

Whether it’s your wedding, birthday or anniversary, ask your loved ones to donate towards BOS instead of giving you a present. Here’s a couple that did exactly that.

You could also ask people to buy trees (equal to your age or anniversary year), grown by local community members in Borneo, to restore degraded areas of the rainforest.

Game Night

Get your friends or family together for a fun night to crown your board/video game champion. Ask team players to donate “get out of jail”, and why not set a fine for a Jenga tipple? For wildlife buffs, have a look and play the trivia now!

Orangutan Picnic

Picnic blankets, hats and sunglasses are compulsory! Spice it up with orange-themed food and delicacies from Indonesia that your friends can raffle on the spot. Look at our gado-gado recipe!

Rainforest Afternoon Tea
Have fun making and decorating leaf-shaped biscuits together. For every time the kettle is flicked on for a refill, it’s £1 in your donation tin!
Stroll for Orangutans
Pick a distance and see how quickly you can do it while collecting litter en route to take care of our planet. Make it simple by asking every person to donate £2 per mile and watch your total soar!
On Wednesdays, We Wear Orange
In the office or at school, get your best orange clothes on and raise money for a wonderful cause. Upload your photos online using the #orangefororangutans handle.
Bake a Difference
A little game can be a great way of getting people involved. For a little donation, they could try “guess the weight of the cake” or “how many sweets are in the jar”. The person with the closest guess will get a prize! Don’t forget to spread the message about why you’re doing this.
Daring Dinner Party
Treat your friends to a wholesome brunch BUT place a fun challenge under each dinner plate. If they want to pass, they have to do the challenge and donate!
Challenge Yourself
Like the sound of a challenge but don’t fancy a marathon? Take a look at a book of records, find ideas and who knows, maybe there is something you can beat! How about how many t-shirt layers you can put on in 10 minutes?
Climb Mt. Everest without leaving the UK

Did you know that walking the entire South West Coast Path is equivalent to scaling the world’s tallest mountain? Now that’s a challenge worthy of donations!

Climb Mt. Everest without leaving the US

Did you know that it’s 44,250 steps to climb Mt Everest… on a stairmaster! Why not set your challange in a gym or a skyscraper?

Car Boot Sale

Declutter your home and head off to your local car boot sale. Sell off unwanted items to new homes, and raise funds for orangutans! Don’t forget to tell your customers why you’re doing this, and if you feel comfortable, ask them to follow our social media to learn more about our work.

TOP TIP: Does your workplace select a charity of the year to support? If so, be sure to nominate BOS!

Pick a Date

Pop it in your calendar well in advance so you can get as many people joining as possible!

Plus, people might want to swot up on their quiz questions, prepare their wild costumes or dust off their walking boots… The more, the merrier! Friends, family, toddlers, teachers, classmates and colleagues – everyone’s welcome to join.

Fundraising success story section

7-years old boys Jack and Max gave themselves a challenge: raise money to support their adopted orangutans: Topan and Taymur. Using a yard sale, they sold some of their toys and raised £85!

When their mother, Rani, asked them why they wanted to give up their precious toys for the orangutans, those were their answers: Jack – ‘I wanted to raise money because Orangutans are very nice and it’s not fair that they could go extinct. They should have a happy life.’ Max – ‘Orangutans are so cute, and I love them and want to help save them.’
